Hollywood loves superhero movies. But, unfortunately, only a very tiny portion of these heroes are women. When I recall all the Hollywood films I've watched in the past 19 years, I barely know many movies with only leading female characters in it. It seems like people tend to think of a great and heoric image as a male. Take The Avengers as an example, of the eight heroic characters, only one of them is female.
According to a few researches done by San Diego State University on Hollywood movies over the past one year, men has always taken the lead in film productions, which has been the trend over the past decade. It turns out that women, regardless of whether they work behind the scenes or on screen, have been placed at a disadvantage in this industry.
The producers are more willing to choose male directors, cameramen, and other male technicians over females. But, in reality, are women really weaker than men in these areas?
